The highest waterfall in Polynesia
Situated in the southwest of the island of Nuku Hiva, the majestic Vaipo waterfall cascades down from a height of 350 meters, springing out from the cliff in the form of a horse's tail in Hakaui valley, about 5 km from the coast. To reach it means a difficult hike which takes 5 hours there and back. On the way, there are several archeological sites such as paepae (stone platforms), funeral caves and numerous tiki.
