James Norman Hall is an American writer who played an important role in promoting the reputation of Tahiti when he co-authored The Bounty Trilogy, The Hurricane and other works with Charles Nordhoff. He arrived in Tahiti in the 1920s and settled in Arue on the east coast of the island, which at that time was a calm district in the countryside. He spent most of his life in Tahiti, where he married Sarah Teraireia Winchester, with whom he had two children. He died in 1951 and his wife in 1985....
