A pleasant site on the west coast of the island.
Varai park was inaugurated on October 23, 2017 in the presence of Vice-President Teva Rofritsch and members of the government, Ronald Tumahi, Mayor of the town of Punaauia, the town council and everybody who'd participated in the realization of this project. The 4.5 hectare park includes a car pak, boules pitch, volley-ball court, picnic and barbecue area and a white sandy beach with public showers. The site will eventually include a "Tahitian Village". Historically, this was an important and sacred site, from where the souls of the deceased were said to begin their voyage to "the other side".
