Event organized by AOA Polynesian Forests.
Join us on Saturday, September 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for a free and friendly day where nature and culture meet!

Workshops, guided tours, a magic show, a treasure hunt, and a plant nursery — the forest will reveal its secrets and wonders.

Program:

TAPA - Plant-based fabrics
A workshop that immerses you in the world of Polynesian plant-based fabrics. Prepare and beat bark to create your own tapa.

VIVO - Nose flute
An introduction to the making and use of this traditional instrument with Aremistic.

‘Ū - Plant dyes
Learn how to prepare natural dyes from plants and discover the basics of an ancestral and ecological know-how.

TŌ - Sugar cane
From ancestral varieties to modern hybrids, discover the history of sugar cane and its distillation into rum. Cuttings of ancient sugar cane varieties will also be offered. (at 9 a.m., no registration required).

URU RĀ’AU - Wood essences
Discover the richness of our forests through a selection of tree species presented with their leaves and fruits.

‘Ā’AMU & HU’A’Ū - Tales and pigments
A sensory awakening workshop using natural food-based paints, guided by a storytelling session.

PĒNI 'ŌFA’I TĀVAI - Pebble illustrations
A botanical illustration workshop on river pebbles, inspired by the living beings of the forest.

HA’UNE - Weaving
Discover the art of weaving by making a head crown out of coconut leaves, and take home your unique creation.

TE MAU FETI’A, TĀPA’O O TE ‘OHURA'A O TE TAU - The stars, markers of the cycle of time
A workshop that transports you to the stars to read the passage of time through the links between earth, sea, and sky.

TE A’AA’A with BIOBASE
Learn how to transform plant fibers (banana, sugar cane, pineapple...) into 100% compostable paper! Experiment with the material and leave with a unique creation you have personalized.

Magic show at 12:30 p.m. - The Magical Breath of the Forest
Let yourself be carried away on a journey where nature and illusion become one.

Guided tours at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Passionate naturalist guides will introduce you to the AOA restoration project and share many stories about Polynesian wildlife and plants along the trails.

Nature treasure hunt - In the footsteps of Te Ara Nui
The elders say that Te Ara Nui, protective spirit of Mo’aroa, hid his name at the heart of the forest. Follow the ancestors’ clues: only those who observe with their hearts will hear the tree speak.

Book tree - In the shade of the canopy
Stories await you, hanging from a tree. Pick one, settle down on a mat, and enjoy a reading moment in the heart of the forest.

Plant nursery
Take advantage of your visit to purchase native, dye, and spice plants. All proceeds from plant sales go to the restoration of the valley.
