Getting to Rurutu

To get the best aerial view of Rurutu, take a seat on the left side of the plane. The airport is in the north of the island and quite a long way from the villages. It is better to reserve a rental car before you fly.

Rurutu is well-known as an ideal destination for whale watching from July to November.

And there are many other excursions available as well  – historical caves, marae, beaches, typical Polynesian houses, the mountains in the center of the island…

Rurutu is also a land of ancestral traditions with a thriving local arts and crafts sector.
