On land and at sea
Naturally, the lagoon is the main attraction of Bora Bora. After all, it is reputed to be the most beautiful in the world. There are a host of ways to spend your day at the beach: swimming at Matira Beach, scuba diving, a picnic on the motu, a sunset cruise, paddle boarding, kayaking, windsurfing. The choice is endless.
But there are also plenty of things to do on the island itself. Take a stroll around the tiny capital, Vaitape, where you can enjoy a delicious poisson cru in one of the snack bars or restaurants. Go hiking – some of the trails, like those to Mount Pa’ia and Mount ‘Otemanu, are quite challenging. Discover the vestiges of Operation Bobcat, the American military occupation of the island during WW2. And when you feel like relaxing, enjoy the singular pleasure of a taurumi, the traditional Polynesian massage, in one of the hotel spas.
