Most shops and businesses concentrated in the north of the island, in and around Fare, the main town. Close to the airport, Fare is the animated heart of the island. Visit the fruit and vegetable market stalls and buy freshly caught fish from the quayside for your breakfast. Or browse around the boutiques and shops nearby. There are banks with cash dispensers and a medical center just opposite the gendarmerie (police station).
There are some shops further to the south at Fitii where you can also rent cars and scooters. But be careful, all the filling stations are in Fare.
