Getting around on Raiatea
Close to the airport, the island’s only town, Uturoa, has all the usual shops, banks, a post office, health services and a market selling fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts and other local products. There is a road which goes all the way around the island, almost 100km, but the filling stations are all in Uturoa. A vehicle is necessary if you’re staying outside the town.
