Picnic on a motu

Sitting in the sea for lunch

The sand is hot, the sea is a shimmering turquoise and you’re feeling hungry. Wouldn’t it be just perfect if you could only stay in the water and eat? No sooner said than done! A picnic on a motu in The Islands of Tahiti – taking it easy in style. The table and chairs are in place, so take a seat, let the cool water lap softly over your feet and enjoy your meal! Tāmā’a maita’i !

Mauri

“Motu" is the Tahitian word for a small islet on the coral reef.

Three star dining

Lunch on the motu, with pleasure as the main course. A Robinson Crusoe, sitting at a wooden table with your feet in the water in the company of friends, or with someone special if romance is in the air. A pleasure that’s simple and simply wonderful. The fish will soon invite themselves to the table as well, and a ray or two might just pass by to say hello.

Please remember to respect the environment as you sample the singular pleasure of a picnic on the motu. Make sure that your suntan cream is eco-friendly, and despite their insistence, please do not feed the fish – they manage well enough on their own. Then, once you’ve digested your meal, why not do a little snorkeling, just to put those extra calories to good use!

Let's eat!

Forget about the usual picnic snacks, make way for raw fish in coconut milk and exotic flavors! Here are four delicacies that will accompany your motu picnic.
