Formerly known as "Plage Mareto", Tahiamanu beach, located at the entrance to Opunohu Bay, is one of Moorea's main public access points to the sea, along with Temae beach.

In addition to swimming, sporting events such as the Moorea Marathon, pirogue races and X-Terra competitions are commonplace in this tourist destination. To improve visitor facilities, the site has a fitness area, landscaped parking and public toilets on the mountain side.
