Sentier De Vaiea Aux Falaises De Hotuparaoa

The 250-metre-high Hotu cliffs overlook the village of Vaiea. Climbers are strongly advised to use a professional guide to reach the cliffs, due to their high level of danger. This sloping hiking trail takes you through an undergrowth filled with mapes, mango, hibiscus tiliaceus and purau trees. All along the way, vegetation windows offer views of the blue lagoon and nearby motus. It's not unusual to come across colonies of nesting seabirds. A few more steps and you're at the top of the Hotu cliffs. Here, the panorama of the ocean and horizon is breathtaking.
