The Heiva i Tahiti is one of the most important cultural events on The Islands of Tahiti. This popular community festival has been one of the annual must-see events for almost 140 years. In July, visitors are invited to join in with events, shows, rituals and contests. The events calendar offers dance shows, songs and also amazing traditional sports. The communities representing the different archipelagos of French Polynesia gather in Papeete at this time of the year to present their arts, techniques and know-how during contests and craft exhibitions. More than 3,000 artists participated in the 2019 edition and about 30,000 spectators were present at the event.
